CES 2017 Preview: Announcing the 3rd generation FLIR ONE
FLIR ONE developers,
I hope your holidays have been really good. With the start of the new year we can finally start talking about some exciting new FLIR ONE product news!
3rd generation FLIR ONE announcement
At the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas FLIR will be announcing the third generation of FLIR ONE products. There will be a new FLIR ONE with an 80×60 thermal imager and excellent consumer features and a FLIR ONE Pro with a 160×120 thermal imager and advanced image processing features for optimal image resolution. There will be new versions of the FLIR ONE app with great new features for both versions and an entirely new user interface. Shipping is expected in Q2 2017.
3rd generation SDK and Third Party Apps
FLIR is developing new iOS and Android Software Development Kits (SDKs) for the 3rd generation FLIR ONE products and is targeting release in Q2 2017 to coincide with FLIR ONE shipments. The new SDKs will enable 3rd party developers to develop new FLIR ONE apps for both the Pro and Consumer versions of the new hardware, and they’re expected to be backward compatible with 2nd generation hardware. New iOS and Android FLIR ONE apps should be reviewed and approved prior to public release as part of the updated developer affiliate program, which offers developers access to an updated FLIR Approved App logo, promotion via FLIR social media channels, and joint promotion for their apps with FLIR.
Existing 3rd party FLIR ONE apps are expected to be compatible with the new hardware once they’ve been recompiled with new SDKs. We expect to have a beta version of the new SDKs available in late Q1 2017 and will begin accepting applications for our Early Developer Program for the 3rd generation products in January. Stay tuned at https://www.flir.com/developer/mobile-sdk/ for more details and a signup form.
We’ve enjoyed working with you in 2016 and we’re really excited about what apps you’ll come out with for the new hardware in 2017.
Happy developing!
